life as it is...
well, here's the weekly update bulletin of life.
after that long cycle at ecp and where kmli slightly dislocated her ankle (while crossing the overhead bridge), the next outing happened on tuesday! 3 outings in 5 days.. woots!
Met Julia in the morning at the Immigration and Checkpoint Authority to make our ICs.. mine took a maximum of 10 mins while Julia had to go in for some interview o.O Initially worried, she came out of the iterview room much more cheerful especially with an interviewer who thought the system was rigid (so one can imagine how she griped about it :P). Decided to walk from lavender to clarke quay since we had so much time on our hands (it was 11 then and we had to meet the class at 2). the only difficulty of that would b choosing the correct direction of which to walk form the ICa but with the help of the DHL balloon, we made the right choice :) took a pit stop at the national library to get some air-con, degen a bit, borrow books and try to use the internet. both of us spent at least 5-10 mins trying to hack into our own accounts -.-" couldn't remember the password OR username for nuts. Even so, after i managed to figure out mine, realised that the account was empty so it could not be used.. LOL.. Stayed there till like 140 or so before walking down the road towards Clarke Quay
On the way, we were guessing how many people would already b there, since our EST was about 1345. Julia guessed 3 while i guessed 5, and disappointingly (if there's such a word), only heex and yi rui were there -.- the rest of the class soon followed and we went to settlers' cafe. On the way, we passed the famous Speaker's Corner which is filled with ugly pandas with a large concert stage opposite it.. haha.. at settlers', we played random card and board games like saboteur and pit, even finding a game that was very much alike what we did for civics. Spent 4 hrs there from 2-6 but it sure was a fun-filled 4 hrs. After that, azu left us to head home to break fast while the rest of us headed to serangoon for dinner
Hui yi left us after dinner and we all walked form serangoon to heex's house where jia hua and jw were waiting in ambush to scare azi and it worked spectacularly. There, we enjoyed mooncakes, lanterns, sparklers and a very smelly dog >.< we were basically sitting around, walking around, lighting sparklers doing and talking bout random stuff.. haha.. amanda and xinwei joined us later but left the earliest cos they weren't staying over. people started streaming home after like 11+ but the rest of us - Bernard, Kelvin, Yi rui, Zhang Rui, Thomas, Reuben and myself. Entertained ourselves with cards till it was time to watch soccer - Reading vs Liverpool. Match was quite boring at the start, with both teams rather lacklustre performances. Liverpool opened the scoring and yr, homa and myself started cheering!! (its obvious now who are the liverpool supporters). Reading equalised soon after and the 3 of us were like -.-. After half time was when things got exciting.. Liverpool went up again through torres only for reading to equalise yet again through another shambled goalmouth scramble. torres put in another to make it 3-2 and after that we realised that reading's fight was juz squashed. with 5 mins to go, torres rounded the keeper to complete his hat-trick :D zhang rui went home at half time while some others ko-ed round there too.. the 3 of us ended up being banished to the floor and chair on lvl 1.. haha..
the next day, as usual my body clock woke me up at 7+ but tried to sleep, to no avail. went to have muffins and read the papers.. imagine wad's the first news i saw in the Life section..... Lack of sleep can lead to at least twice the probability of getting heart disease and all that.. i was like o.O.... met up with ernest and a few others like azu n milord for lanning the next day. Finally, reached home and ko-ed with sch looming the next day...
Results came streaming in for us on thursday where we got back chem, math, bio paper 3(which was crappy) and gp.. friday couldn't come sooner as we got back econs and bio paper 1. Results so far are AABB, but can't compare to the likes of heex, thomas and yr who hav juz totally imba marks...
Friday was also my bday!! YAY!! haha.. finally can drink legally (though i don't anyway), watch M18 movies, etc.. received smses from people from 10+ to 12+, but i was asleep by 9+ so i only saw all the msgs when i woke up the next day.. haha.. also got cards from the class, including a small red car from kmli, and wu lei. headed to dhoby ghaut from sch and only at 6+ did i get informed that the meeting time and place were changed from dhoby at 7 to somerset at 8.. i was like o.O once again. met my 2 aunts and 4 cousins finally at cathay and had dinner with loads of fun and laughter. So that ends the week on a high note and today, i'm having dinner with my family again :P hahahah
distance travelled
for those who went cycling, a very very rough estimate would b around 25km in total.. 12.5 km for the one-way trip.. but this is using quite an inaccurate map on streetdirectory.com (since i can't google earth for reasons u people noe of)
hope there's a sense of achievement.. haha.. :D
post prelims
heya all! Its post prelims already, for most of us that is.. those taking H3 math good luck and you can still enjoy 2 days after that.. :P
The past 2 days have been totally wacko... friday, right after chem mcq was over, we all adjourned to Dhoby Ghaut for a mass lanning session. Reuben joined us!!! Its like a miracle, lol.. (juz joking reub if ur reading this). So anyway most of us lanned for 7.75 hours and it cost us a total of $15.50, which is like o.O
Then we went to some ulu eatery shophouse at outram where yi ding somhow got lost and conveniently his phone ran out of batt... (why do stuff like that always happen to u man?) The food there i would say is not too bad, but somehow our table under-ordered but we didn't care anyway. Class dinner invloved Amanda, Andrea, Azura, Hui Yi, Julia, Ruth and Xinwei who represented the girls (7/11.. not bad!!) Also Bernard, Ernest, Heex, Milord, Kelvin, Reuben, Myself, Song Jie, Yi Ding, Yi Rui, Zhang Rui and Zhenghong (12/17 not too bad either!).
After contemplating what to do after dinner, we finally decided on the esplanade and we waited for the stupid bus for like 30 mins -.- (buses NOT to take include 162 and 196). So finally we ended up at the place where we had our first class outing of sorts if i'm not wrong. Series or 'Truth or Dare' qns showed how much our class has evolved in a way compared to like one year ago and at least every1 was quite open with wad they said, less of the covering up type of stuff that usually happens and the only dare of the night came from reub how did cartwheels from where we were sitting to the wall and came back topsy turvy.. haha.. (mayb he did it so that he didn't need to answer truth o.O) Finally, we got chased off the roof terrace of the esplanade and every1 went their separate ways.
Today was the BOMB day. after much deliberation like everything else we do, we finally managed to carve out an outing of sorts. People around were Bernard, Kun Man, Heex, Kelvin, Song Jie, Azura, Reub (who came like super late, but at least he made the effort to go :) ) and myself. cycled from my uncle's house and it took me mlonger than expected - 35 mins - to reach the Macs at ECP. Jingwen appeared briefly with Robia (is this the right spelling) and their newly adopted kitten, but after that they left to study (o.O). We cycled for nearly 4 hours from Macnonald's all the way to Changi Airport!!! (we actually cycled the WHOLE length of the runway and more, being able to see the passenger terminal) After that, we decided for the sake of every1, we should turn back. On the way to the 'end point', cramps started to set in but they were still controllable due to availability of water, but on the reverse trip, it almost became unbearable, but pushed on anyway. Finally reaching the hawker centre where every1 juz sort of dropped their bikes and went to buy drinks (i think since i wasn't there). the worst part of they day when i was on my way home after buying dinner, i cycled towards the seafood centre and due to fatigue, i decided to take a short break. BAD MISTAKE!! my whole right quadracept (or however you spell it) just seized up. OMG, i thought i was gonna like stay there forever, though it only lasted at most 1 minute. pushed on back to Macs where my other muscles were also acting up, and decided to juz take a taxi instead of risking cycling back. If my leg cramped again when i'm cycling on the raod, i would feel super GG >.<
So now back safe and sound at my uncle's house, i foresee a bedridden tomorrow :( but well, to think we actually wanted to try to cycle all the way to changi village, i would give it to us tht we were ambitious :) haha... mayb we can do it next time :P I'll find out the approximate distance that we've travelled today from Macs to where we were soon. Hopefully, it can give us a sense of achievement :)
end of week 1
first time i'm posting in almost a week. this week's been a busy one, with prelims alomst everyday cept on tuesday where we had a one day break before we continued with all the rest. 4 down and 6 more to go. just one more week before the prelims end and we have a break of a few days and after that, its full steam ahead with about a month to A levels.
so far, life's been kinda boring with nothing mich interesting happening expect the constant mugging sessions that occur everyday. Although there have always been time to relax and have fun to daidee though up to 2-3 hrs can b wasted that way. but its a good way to destress if we're feeling any.
this is crappy, i can't connect my phone to my com =/ cos the specs are too lousy.. gah! i need a new com!!! sigh.. back to the books i guess...
unusual sight
hmm.. was walking my dog juz now i saw this group (or wadeva thing they're called) of sparrows.. so weird.. there were at least 20+ 30 of them juz hopping around on the ground.. is it a SIGN??
o.O or is my headache juz acting up?
september vacation - 1st 4 days
well, as julia mentioned, the irony of having a vacation (when the school is supposed to be vacated) is that everyone goes back anyway! (well almost everyone) Anyway the past week has been rather dull... studying almost everyday (ok EVERYDAY), together with various people like heex, azu, ernest, julia and wu lei.. its been tiring as expected, but with prelims coming up next week, its inevitable, we can only hope that prelims turn out with results that reflect how much effort we have put in (though this hardly happens cos life's unfair)
Today was Chem mock prelims and first time we saw the class (or most of it) in like a week, since teacher's day, which seems so long ago now.. mock prelims was alright, though a few careless mistakes here and there made the paper seem difficult but overall it was alright :D
Today is also Julia's bday!! haha.. HAPPY BIRTHDAY JULIA!! anyway i wanted to sms her at like 12 last night but unfortunately i fell asleep at 10+ against my will >.< was watching tv halfway too! :( owell.. better late than never :P
well, i'll stick with a short post today, having a headache which refuses to go away since the chem paper ended at 11.. so i'm off.. mug mug mug...
teachers' day 2007
Today's teachers' day, the actual one, though all the stuff that's emo and all happened yesterday (for obvious reasons). I would concur with every one's view that we're really lucky to have the bunch of teachers that we have. Looking at some of the other tutors, I sometimes wonder how they actually survive their lessons.
A fun-loving and caring econs tutor, who's also our civics tutor, Ms Lio lets us run free most of the time, cancelling Civics so that we can have a break in the morning and replenish out energy through class breakfast and occasional games. On the econs side, though we don't usually meet up to expectations for tests and exams, she never fails to push us on and encourage us, never giving up on us no matter what the situation. Cos she's so fun-loving, the lovelies decided to add on to her growing LARGE soft toy collection by giving another marine animal to accompany the turtle given last year :P
Another fun-loving tutor, Mr Chan, who watches Bleach but refuse to admit it during lessons (for reasons i don't know of) and is easily provoked into an uncontrollably fit of laughter which in turn brightens up the class to sometimes very boring bio lessons/topics. With his trademark finger to temple movement whenever someone bombs him with a question, it is no wonder the lovelies bought him a massager (though why a back one I have yet to find out)
Our math tutor who has loads of brain and is full of jokes that cmi, presenting Ms. Chua! Her intelligence is just overflowing from her brain, having gone to both Cambridge AND Harvard for her undergrad and post grad studies. In addition to that, she makes us all envious in 2 ways. First, the ability to remember handphone numbers of almost everyone in class (and i'm quite sure its not only our class that she remembers). Second is that she has visited almost EVERY SINGLE country there is in Europe and also the cooler places in US.. woah.. though she got a calculator from the lovelies, i'm quite sure she'll spend more time thinking of jokes bout it than using it.. :P
Our favourite Winnie the Pooh tutor, Ms Lee, is famous (or infamous but i still think its famous) for her Pooh bear slides and antics. Anytime someone sees a chem presentation with Pooh bear, its definitely Ms Lee. Even the people who don't know her will ask, 'Are you referring to the Winnie the Pooh one?', showing how she has made an impression on us impressionable kids. The lovelies gave her a Winnie the Pooh head rest (or is it a bolster) together with a mini Pooh tied to it, perhaps it may be overdone since Ms Le even uses Winnie the Pooh custom made ALPHABETS!!
Last but not least (cliche intended), we have our GP tutor, Ms Uma, who made it known to us recently that if she gets reincarnated, she would like to be a cat, especially a Persian cat cos those have very good lives. Thus the cat theme of presents which included a cat beanie and a whacker with the shape of a cat. Lovelies tried unsuccessfully to fool Ms Uma that hitting the beanie with the whacker would create a Bernard-like 'ek' sound since she found out it was bernard all along in the end, but it was worth the try, especially her first expression of cluelessness when bernard's 'EK' was too soft -.- haha..
so sums up a fruitful teachers day (mayb we should have just given them each an apple like in Snoopy and other cartoons with teachers). Finally, i would like to thank all of them for all the work they have put in so far to help us to mature and grow as people as well as supporting us all the way (at least i hope so).
