beginning of the end
sigh. Yesterday was the last official day of school for the class of 2007 and it was such a bittersweet day. Bitter as this signals the end of the 2 year journey that started so suddenly last year after we left the comfort zone of secondary school to venture into a new system. Sweet as on this day alone, memories just flow through you and you feel that the past 2 years have been the best time of your lives. For me, the s03lovelies has been a much better experience than expected. From the start of last year, we started as a group of strangers (most of us anyway) and finally today, we finish as one well bonded group of people who have gone through thick and thin, hardships and conflicts, fun and games. This class has exceeded expectations and I'm quite sure that at the start of last year, we would never have expected that we would end up as a bonded entity. For this reason alone, i feel very lucky and blessed. :)
Yesterday was a day of reminiscence, with people like kel and azu passing out letters while the rest of us receive and read them :P took pictures here and there, had a class photo to conclude the day similar to how we had our first civics lesson during orientation. Throughout the two years, the class has been through a lot, especially in the aspect of class outings. Personally, i think this class has gone for more outings than any other class in the school. In 2 years, we've managed to do almost all possible things that a class can do together. Stayovers, chalets, movies, ECP, Sentosa, Esplanade and many others. We've even celebrated holidays together like the turkey eating at yi rui's house last christmas and chinese new year at xin wei's.
Now, here's something that quite a few people have done before, so i won't say that its an original idea. Here are the people in my class and some comments from me to them :) (In alphabetical order)
Amanda - thanks for always being such a good friend. First met you when you went for the RI French lesson under Madame Tse, though I didn't know you at all then. Most amazingly was how we actually mentioned that it could be possible to end up in the same class at Tianni's house :D Don't be disheartened by Bio, just work towards it and everything will turn out fine :)
Andrea - I know that I honestly didn't like you when you first appeared in our class in March last year, but as time passed, you warmed up to us and vice versa. Though conflicts did happen over the years, I'm sure that we managed to iron it out somehow
Azimah - YOU are so totally psycho. haha… but well, you bring about laughter in almost everyone’s life in class, with your weird antics as well as your amazingly childish yet mature attitude… that’s why I say that you’ll never grow up :P though u claim that you will, only time will tell
Azura - Our wonderful CT rep that can be so random yet so funny at the same time. Only started getting to know you well this year (don’t know when) but like you said, it doesn’t matter. As long as the result is such, the when and how are irrelevant :D Your randomness is usually attributed to two things, first sugar (includes sweets, chocos and other stuff with glucose) and second people. Your degree of randomness seems to vary from person to person, from the very little (Thomas) to the very much (azi). But that’s the aspect of you that the class has learnt to love and enjoy :) So I guess that allows you to be more random (or is it your limit already :P) around us as you know that we usually juz accept it the way it is.. haha
Bernard - You are one intelligent dude. With your quotes and all during GP, where we learn random stuff, also pseudo-malaysian that manages to bluff ms uma for like the first term at least. haha… managed to learn loads of things from you over the course of the 2 years, one thing I’ve learnt especially is to never let u draw!! (Your drawing of the shark on the back of the picture is just ugly lah >.<)
Daniel - Thanks for teaching me who my real friends are, and also that trust should never be given out too easily as this would just be made use of by certain people
Ernest - For the past 4 years, we’ve been classmates. Wasn’t exactly very close to you in RI, so I’m glad to have had the chance to actually know you a lot better than I had 2 years ago. Most important fact that the most of us learnt from you is that, you’ll be rich in the future :P remember us when you get richer!!! Also, I think its about time you actually said something on you blog no?
Hee Xun – You’re another smart GEPer, knew you were one since the first time I saw u last year. Reinforced by the fact that you got straight As in the certs that you plan to use for your uni apps. With your studious specs and the funky look, impossible to be a special/express student. You know how it goes in RI, most GEPers are crappy, but I know that that particular view has been debunked several times over the two years and you’ve certainly become an essential part of the class (since you organise the outings)
Hui Yi - One person in class that can actually memorise the lines found in Disney movies, and being able to imitate the way the characters talk. This new revelation came from class chalet where we sat as a group and you sportingly demonstrated it to us :) Also, a person with the weirdest dreams EVER. I have not met another person who has had such vivid memories of the weird dreams that they have had. You usually have different views on stuff (cos of KI), though you refuse to accept the fact that its cos I take GP n you take KI :P
Jing Wen - Fun-loving guy that can range from being very serious to super crappy and from very hardworking to super slack, though its more of the former in both cases now that the As are coming. Heard about you in RI, but never actually got to see who you are, since the RI Moor House batch was so small (2 classes, 1express 1 GEP), but since knowing you, its been a real fun experience
Julia - I wonder whether you’ve realised that the person that wrote ‘great faith’ on your small coloured sheet of paper is me :P I was quite o.O when you suddenly asked aloud that day whose signature looked like an 8, and all I could do would be to act ignorant and act normal.. haha… Over the past 2 years, I’m really thankful for all the help you’ve given me in math and all, and I sincerely hope that your outlook of the class has changed since we first talked (can’t remember whether this year or last) and know that we’ll always be here supporting and encouraging you in whatever you do :)
Kelvin - Classmate of four years as well. I was totally amazed by you sneezing ability in sec 4. What was your record, can you remember? And thought that it was gonna occur again since RJ decided to install air-con. Sadly it never happened and u deprived 3L of a wonderful experience (for us, not for you :P) Also, a greatly responsible CT rep, though might be indecisive at times, you know that we all really appreciate the effort that you’ve put in for the class and hopefully, as a class, we’ve not let you down in anyway. One ironic case, no matter how you tried to separate the four of us 4E people through your random seating arrangement, we somehow managed to come back together again in the end (yiding was the outsider.. haha)
Kun Man - I would dare say that you’re one of, if not, the funniest girl in class. Ranging from your incredible life stories that are read from your blog, to the way you and ernest try to own each other through suaning even though he usually wins in the end anyway, also the way you look at everyone of us whenever we say something bout ‘you know who’, its just what makes you, YOU. From your fetish of cats to your incredible ability of only being able to sprain your ankle while walking has defined you and your personality. From the times I’ve talked to you (via msn, though you claim that you don’t like it very much), I’ve learnt a great deal, especially in instances where you provide a ‘Switzerland’ point of view that allows me to see the whole picture as well as a whole new perspective.
Melissa - woohoo, die hard KI person whom I seem to always manage to find something to comment about that relates it to KI somehow, and almost always without fail, you’ll say that I’m closed minded or something to that extent. I don’t know why sometimes I bother to argue with you and hui yi cos I lose most of the time anyway, but I guess its fun to see the views of 2 people who have a different way in which they interpret things and that’s what makes those arguments interesting (for me at least). hehe… one more thing, dun b so stressed!
Milord - Like how Song Jie described you, you make everyone around you laugh, no matter what the situation, how long the duration, who you are talking to or where you are. Started the milk tea drink in class which was later named ‘Milord Tea’ cos you drink it all the time and in the end, at least half the class was drinking it. Also, what amazes me is how you can play till like 5 or 6am and still manage to go to school and survive the day. (Maybe it has something to do with the tea.. haha)
Ming Sing - reflective person that loves cate blanchett for nuts. Like to critique people’s pronunciation (till I owned you at class chalet :P) and knows nuts about soccer. I thought I saw you before around in RI but couldn’t really remember. But through the long talks that we have with Thomas, ernest and heex, I’m sure that we’ve learnt more about each other and understand each other better. Though our views may conflict at times, especially about movies and the like, we’ll usually be able to compromise and agree on something to a certain extent.
Mun Hay - coolio hocker who I seldom get to talk to, except during random sessions when I see you at the floorball court and in class. Though conversations are short and rare, still managed to interact with you, especially during GP at the start of the year when I was still sitting at the back of the class. Its been fun having you in class especially for your comments and the things you say. Most memorable quote? ‘Zhenghong is my idol’ for one of the civics lessons we had.. haha
Reuben - Emo drama queen of a guy. Really voices out his opinions when he wants to be heard and it usually succeeds. Though for some strange reason he has mood swings o.O could be real gloomy n down one day and happy and cheery the next. He can be really mean to selected people at times, but usually he’s just joking. Used to keep hanging out with his sec4 chums till recently and always got suaned by me when I say that ‘he’s not part of the class’, but of course I’m only joking.
Ruth - One of the few people in class who is really artistic, making jewellery and also taking nice photos of the people around her. In addition, though I won’t say that anyone in our class is ugly, cos no one is, I could say that she’s the prettiest of us all.. guys and girls included.. haha… even though the conversations have been rare and far apart, whenever we do have one, you’re always friendly and approachable. Also, we depend on you for most of our class photos :P
Song Jie - This is one guy that can never lose his temper. Since I’ve known him in sec 1, I have never once seen him lose his temper in any way. Always seem to be smiling, only time seen unsmiling is when he’s bickering with Kelvin, which has toned down quite a bit since the last year when they were doin it every other hour for no apparent reason that the rest of us can see. If I remember correctly, he’s like the most scandalous in class, though most of it is unverifiable and he even has a nickname (which I will not write here)
Thomas - being one of the quietest boys in class, it is easy to assume that Thomas would not be able to gel with the class in general. He provides to-the-point comments on things and is usually ready to help, even under the weirdest conditions. He’s very serious about the things that happen around him, but it is this quality that makes us laugh, especially when he tries to control his laughter and at the same time try to be serious. This conflict of emotion never fails to put a smile on everyone’s faces.
Xiaoyu - bubbly personality that can be really infectious sometimes. Having gone through pw as well as the EDB challenge, found her to be real hardworking person as well as a really determined one. As long as she has her eyes on her goal, she’ll work towards it no matter how much effort it’ll take and usually she’ll manage to accomplish her goal. Everyone says that she’ll be a tai tai when she grows up, though it might be true, but I’m sure that she would have accomplished something before degenerating to that state :P
Xin Wei - blurrest girl in class and the only person I know that can say stuff that suans herself… She tries to do it to other people, but most of the time it just backfires and she gets it anyway.. Alo, during the class chalet, we found out that her brain sort of stops working properly when it gets late and she gets sleepy.. wrong stuff kept coming from her and we just had to take the chance to suan her, since it was presented to us on a silver platter :P
Yi Ding – powerful person that manages to confuse the easiest of concepts as he thinks too much. Very inquisitive, and bombarding people with questions every other day, he has a great desire to improve and learn. His questions have helped me to understand certain concepts much better as I would have to dissect the whole concept before I can successfully explain to him so that he’ll be convinced. I dare say he’s the most hardworking guy in class, but maybe cos of his inherent nature of self-confusion, he has not seen the result of his hard work… YET.. I’m sure that he’ll be able to rise up to the challenges ahead and conquer them with such determination and confidence. Also, he’s a funny man, who for some weird reason supports Chinese players in soccer (though they really cmi). Cos of that, he continually gets bombed by ernest and I but his nature and character usually takes this in his stride and tries unsuccessfullyto suan us back somehow..
Yi Rui - fellow 163 bus taker, super smart and yea, super smart. He may seem quiet on the outside, but internally, he has strong opinions and views but he usually keeps them to himself. Though he may be small in stature, you sure can’t look down on him, his attitude towards work is just excellent, camping in the library from 8am-9pm almost everyday (I think) and he’s just the studying role model that everyone should be following, he has the results to show for it too :)
Zhang Rui - this guy is just a bag of laughs and information. He can talk about anything under the sun and you might not know whether he’s lying through his teeth or speaking the truth. Also, his ability to imitate south park characters and also remember the stories with such completion that its amazing, just like how one remembers the times tables or something, it seems to come naturally to him. Although there was one incident where I felt like whacking him, (cos he was moping bout his econs grade which was already better than mine), he’s a good friend to have around and with his antics, you’ll be laughing your head off.
Zheng Hong - here’s the comedian of the class. He manages to make the whole class laugh with his witty jokes as well as lame jokes and a good mix of them results in much laughter for everyone else. More importantly, it how he can talk crap with such a straight face that ms lio sometimes even looks as though she believes him >.< most recently it was bout Robert frost being gay and that’s how the poem written by him and given to us was supposed to signify.
All in all, i would really like to thank the class as a whole for these 2 wonderful years that have been shared. Now, i'm really sleepy, typed till like 4-5am and still wasn't done.. so continued this morning and here it is.. my longest post so far and should be the longest for a long time.
